December 16th 2006 .... BACK FOR MORE AT TWIN TOWNS

We were back for more at Twin Towns and the second night was as good as the first.
Mahalia’s set was enjoyed by everyone. Her interpretation of Proud Mary is fantastic
and everyone gets right into it. Dario showed us his talent on guitar in this when he
came on as special guest and did a great guitar solo. Look out Danny!!
Tonight was a sell out and the crowd went crazy as Jimmy and his band came on.
There were more speakers added to the stage this time, speakers that were facing into
the crowd. No complaining of not being able to hear Jimmy - he was loud!
It was Jackie’s last gig in Australia tonight and he was fantastic on drums and keys.
He played the keys for Flame Trees and in Khe Sanh and Working Class Man he
played the start on keys then spun around to play drums for the remainder of the song.
Well done Jackie. He has been great in the band, improving so much over the time
he’s been there. He will certainly be missed by all.
Danny was in fine form again, moving across the stage with his guitar. He came
across to join Nick and Dario then moved across to the other side of the speakers. A
string or 2 was broken but that didn’t stop him, not for long anyway!
Nick was getting into it and looks like he is enjoying the band interaction. It is great
having him playing in the band and his rhythm guitar works well with Danny’s lead.
He also broke a string, but he does quite often so must be used to playing with 5.
Love seeing Dario move around the stage rather than being stuck up the back. His
intro with Jackie in Resurrection Shuffle was awesome.
The crowd loved it when Mahalia came forward to sing Take Some Time with Jimmy
and she responded with a smile and by reaching out to grab a few hands. Just like her
dad eh!!
Jimmy made some kid’s night when he went over and grabbed his hand. Speaking of
Jimmy, he was sounding awesome with that powerful voice! He is showing no signs
of slowing down, which is a good thing for us. Tonight he had more stories for us.
There was another one about the couple on their first wedding anniversary. Haha, they
must have made an impression!
The set list was the same as last night, but Ride The Night Away was included and the
order of songs was shuffled a bit. The Weight started the encore with the guys going a
great job. Nick was better tonight on his verse. Still think Dario should have a turn
singing , maybe he can sing Jackie’s verse now!!
Goodbye finished off the night and it was goodbye Jackie. He still has some gigs in
New Zealand, but that’s it for Australia.
Good luck Jackie.
