July 26th 2007 .... FROM TASSIE TO QLD - TWIN TOWNS
Just back form cold Hobart and ready to travel north for some warm weather and back
to our favourite destination and favourite venue – Twin Towns! Haven’t missed a gig
here in 5 years.
There was no support here at Twin Towns, just straight into Jimmy without too much
of a wait. There were lots of familiar faces in the crowd, all rapt to have Jimmy back.
As he said “it’s great to be back to our residency gig”. He gave everyone a few laughs
with his comment that he’s had a bit of a break because “it’s not worth doing a gig
if you’re heart’s not in it”.
The set list was pretty much the same as previous gigs, with the slow start to get
warmed up for what was to come. There’s something about this place, every gig here
is awesome, everyone loves it and Jimmy and the band always put on their best
performances here.
Jimmy moved around the stage having fun. He laughed and joked and smiles for
everyone. The fans love it when there is such interaction between him and them. He
sang loud and strong, showing he was back in action and loving it.
The band were brilliant too, love the way they are moving around the stage and
involving each other, they really are getting a vibe happening up there. Lachie fits
in so well, and doesn’t everyone love it when he’s out of his seat nearly sending his keys
flying as he goes off on his solos. Tommy was on the edge of the stage trying to
knock our heads off with his guitar. The girls at Twin Towns love it when Danny
shows off his excellent guitar skills. Dario is so loyal to Jimmy and has fun with
everyone, having a laugh with Jimmy, the band and the crowd too. He is such a
talented bass player and loves his solo in Resurrection Shuffle. Jackie has so many
symbols and skins of different sizes to bang away at, don’t know how he does it. He
works up such a sweat and he loves it.
It was disappointing to hear Working Class Man come around so soon. But when they
came back for the encore I was rapt to get a happy birthday from Jimmy, so excited –
thanks Jimmy. Tommy, Jackie and Danny then joined him in The Weight. The last
song of the night was Good Times, still no Goodbye L. But I guess it is a good thing
not to be too predictable and to mix things up a bit.
Afterwards Mahalia and Jackie were doing great business at the merchandise desk
selling signed skins, CD’s and t-shirts and mixing with the fans. It is really
appreciated by everyone.
Once again it was an absolutely awesome night at Twin Towns.
