Today we headed outback to Port Augusta. The concert was at the Sport's Oval.
Tickets had sold really well and a massive crowd was expected. There was a huge
queue when we got there and people were sitting around the car park drinking. It was
gonna be a big night!
Inside there was the usual food stalls and bars set up around the sides, similar to
Mannum but on a bigger scale. There was a grand stand too and people actually went
and sat in there. Don't know if they stayed there but I'm guessing some did.
Elly was support again with Bonnie and everyone loved her. She sag I'll Be There
with Bonnie and that was very popular with the fans.
Adam Brand had everyone up and going when he came on after her and once again
the crowd got right into him and it started to liven up a bit and when Jimmy came on,
the crowd went feral, everyone pushing and shoving to get to the front. There was
heaps of fights with punches being thrown - "and that was just the women" Jimmy
told everyone. Security was certainly kept busy.
Through it all though Jimmy kept singing and everyone who wasn't fighting was
loving it and having a great time. (99% of the crowd) The set list was similar to last
night at Mannum.
He had all the hits there with lots if Chisel to keep everyone happy. Jimmy's voice in
Four Walls is amazing, better than ever. He played guitar heaps - our new favourite
guitarist!!!! Looking forward to a solo, Jimmy, maybe in Merry Go Round or
Goodbye. Adam Brand came on and sang The Weight with Jimmy, James and Mark.
He also joined Jimmy in Khe Sahn and he looked like he was in awe of Jimmy and
couldn't believe he was sharing the stage with his hero and in Khe Sahn too!!!!! He
did do a great job though. The long encores are great, songs we thought had been left
out turned up there.
After a week of long full on concerts Jimmy was still going strong, his voice loud and
clear and no way known was he going to slow down, awesome!! This tour was
fantastic. Can't wait for the next gig. But now we had the long drive back to Adelaide
and then the 9 hour drive back to Melbourne the following day. So worth it and there
was so much time to reminisce.
