November 07th 2009 .... H.O.G. RALLY - AURORA STADIUM - LAUNCESTON

Had an early flight over in the morning, way too early!! Headed into Aurora Stadium to see if we could pick up our tickets for the concert tonight. No luck, we were sent from pillar to post then to the Princess Theatre only to find out they didn’t have them. Tickets would be available when gates open at 5.30pm.
Picked them up then but gates didn’t open til a bit later. When we got inside we were really disappointed to find the section in front of the stage was for Harley owners only. This area was the width of the stage and went as far back as the grandstand almost. Not happy, especially as we had asked the question at box office and were told we could get to the front. Went for a wander, all over the oval were Harley tents with Jimmy’s merchandise stall in the middle of it all. We found a table near the bar, sat down and had something to eat and drink.
There were two support bands on before Jimmy. In the front section there was only about 10 people at this stage, it did grow quite a bit once they had all stopped checking out the Harley stuff, but there was still a lot of space up the back.
We got ourselves sorted and waited until Jimmy stormed the stage and Driving Wheels took over. It was a large stage with a Harleys sitting either side. One change to the band this week - replacing Danny was Stuart Fraser on guitar, he was with Jak up the front and up the back was Dario, Wazza, Tony and Shauna, all having fun.
The set list was the same one as last week, just Four Walls missing and Love Is Enough returned which sounded great with the boys helping Shauna out on backing vocals. Last week we could hear Danny standing out, this week I think it was Dario. While these guys are enjoying playing together it seems as if Jimmy is enjoying having them around him too. He looks to be having fun with them, lots of smiles and laughs between them all. And the vibe rubs off on everyone. Considering this was a bikies rally the crowd were pretty tame. One guy was treated, for a sore leg I think, inside the barrier for ages before he was carried out. No trouble was spotted anywhere though; all were enjoying listening to Jimmy’s singing. The applause was loud as Jimmy left the stage at the end of the main set. He returned for the encore with Khe Sanh which went down a treat. Goodbye ended the night. It turned out to be an awesome, fun night, had the best time.
