Nov 26th 2010 .... ROYAL THEATRE, CANBERRA - ACT

The Royal Theatre in Canberra was the next destination. Met some interesting people whilst lining up there. One mum had brought eight of ten kids, and they were all over excited - great kids but good luck with that mum!
There were not that many there early on, a few were hanging around the foyer buying merchandise and having a drink, Even when doors opened it took awhile for them to come in, and yes drinks were permitted in there.
It was general admin down the front and reserved seating up the back. This year they allowed the people who were seated to come forward if they wanted to. Much better than last year when they couldn’t and it left a big gap in between.
Mahalia was support and she put on a great performance. She sang some old songs from her last album and some new songs from the upcoming album. The new songs are fantastic. In the Soulmates tonight were some familiar faces - Lachlan Doley, Danny Spencer, Elly May, Tina Harrod and Jackie (on backing vocals and tambourine) They joined Jonathan Pease, Dave Hibbard and Ben Rodgers. It was a very entertaining set.
After Mahalia there was a short break, some of the band changed into fresh clothes ready to go again with Jimmy.
Jimmy opened up with Can’t Do It Again. Turn It Around was back in the set and for the first time he added Time Can Change. There were a few other songs from Rage and Ruin mixed in with all the oldies. Jimmy belted them all out as only he knows how, at 110%. He put a smile on many faces as he moved across the stage grabbing hands, throwing a smile around and having a bit of a laugh. He gave us a bit of a laugh when he got lost in Lover Lover. What’s going on?? Haha, didn’t take him long to get back on track Danny, Dario, Lachy, Jackie, Charlie, Ben, Mahalia and Elly, the band, they are pretty stable now, not been any band changes for awhile. They play well together and appear to get on really well together and there is a lot of interaction between them all and Jimmy too on stage. All good.
It was an awesome night which ended on stage with Goodbye. One of the ten kids was very excited to get a drum stick from Jackie as he threw them out at the end, made her night!
Outside in the foyer Jimmy did a signing. It was mad chaos out there, people everywhere, not much direction or control from security. Mahalia was also signing with Jimmy. And Ruby was joining in on the fun. A bit too mad for us. We checked it out and decided nah, give it a miss. We were happy, had enjoyed the show very much so, ready for Enmore tomorrow night.
