November 19th 2011 .... ROCHFORD WINERY, YARRA GLEN - VIC

From Wodonga it was back on the road to Yarra Glen and ROCHFORD WINERY the next morning.  The day started out nice but deteriorated as we got closer to our destination. The rain had set in and it had set in bad.
The car park at the winery was a muddy mess and we thought we might get bogged and were advised the organisers were prepared for that and there would be plenty around to help if it did happen. So it was on with the ponchos and boots and in we went. My god there was so much mud, it was disgusting. Apart from being wet it was also quite cool. Very appreciative of our front row seats today. Although the rain kept coming down on us from the roof over the stage as well, at least we had the metal from the barrier to stand on.
The young girl band Stonefield from the last Day On The Green opened up, followed by You Am I. Tim Rogers jumped from the stage during their set and rolled in the mud. He wanted to be the same as the punters, why would you??
The rain did not let up and we were cold, wet and muddy. But just as Chisel came on the rain stopped and they burst into Standing On The Outside and all was forgotten, we were soon warmed up. It was a fantastic gig and for the third night in a row Jimmy sang brilliantly.
The crowd were a bit feral, I always thought it was the wine and sun that didn’t mix but obviously wine and rain don’t mix either. Security had to sort a few idiots out and a couple were dragged over the barrier and out. But all was good and the crowd were in good spirits as Chisel belted out the songs.
It was a muddy trip out from down the front and it was funny to see all the thongs left behind stuck in the mud. Very glad to have thrown the boots in! Luckily the car didn’t get bogged and we got out no problem. It had been a miserable day but Chisel had made it all worth while and had put on an awesome show and we had enjoyed ourselves very much so. Now it was back home for a couple of days before heading off again.
