November 24th 2011 .... ROD LAVER ARENA, MELBOURNE - VIC

There was a day at home in between gigs, then a gig in my home town Melbourne. It was at ROD LAVER ARENA. Got the car in the car park early then went for a walk along the river to the Casino for a drink and dinner. Then we walked back to Rod Laver in time for You Am I.  We did not have good seats for this gig. We were on the floor but five rows back in the second section. Lucky I got out into the aisle and to the front of this section so I had no one directly in front of me. It certainly put a different perspective on things from back there - the lighting, the sound, the whole effect. But give me front row any day, soaking up the expressions, the sweat and the vibe from the stage.
It was a fantastic show tonight and the crowd were up and into it from the word go. Security was quite tight, sitting in the aisles. So if your seat wasn’t in the front section there was no way you were getting down there. But at least they were not stopping anyone from enjoying themselves.
There were quite a few familiar faces around the place and all were having a great time. I even spotted Charlie Owen bopping along to the old classics. The whole place was alive with Chisel and all were singing along loudly. It was a great atmosphere and as Chisel and Jimmy in particular, always do, they played off the crowd. It all made for one hell of a night.
Didn’t need to do the iTunes thing tonight, there were plenty of ushers doing the job as we left. Felt a bit weird going home afterwards!
