December 9th 2011 .... ROD LAVER ARENA, MELBOURNE - VIC

Next day was a sad day, back to ROD LAVER ARENA for the last show of the tour for me. I was not able to get of work for the remaining two gigs next weekend.
The support for the third and final show at Rod Laver Arena was Dave Larkin and his band which included Tommy Boyce, who used to pay in Jimmy’s band a few years back. They were a damn sit better than last nights support.
Front row for us tonight and we were going to make the most of every second of this gig - and we did.
The guys set fire to the town tonight for their last gig in Melbourne. This gig went so quickly, far too soon we were getting into Flame Trees. To me this always indicates the end of the set is near, whether it be a Jimmy solo show or a Chisel one.  As they left the stage after Bow River reality set in and I felt a little sad, only one encore to go. And what an encore it was. One guy tried to jump the stage but security were onto him so quick he didn’t get very far and he was out.  The only one who has tried out of any of the gigs I went to. The encore flew by and soon we were rocking along to Goodbye for one last time. (well for this tour anyway) It did bring a tear to my eye as they left the stage to thunderous applause. We were lucky enough to go back after these last two Melbourne shows - it was the perfect way to end the tour.
